During this festive time of year the main focus (including us) is to overindulge in all the tasty treats that are on offer. Should this really be our only focus? It is important to keep this balanced with a healthy lifestyle and this is how to do it.
Here are a few top tips to make sure you stay trimmed over Christmas:
1 – Limit Yourself
Even though it is important to have ‘cheat days’ you still need to remember your initial goal. You need to limit yourself. That handful of chocolates from the box of celebrations shouldn’t be the whole box, or all those pigs in blankets shouldn’t be gone by the time your nans sat down after cooking for hours. Make sure you counterbalance this with a schedule and stick with it! Even if it’s something small, a great example of this would be a Boxing Day walk with the family.
2 – Act Now not Later
How many times have you heard ‘I’ll start my diet Monday’ or ‘New Year New Me’? Why wait? Go into Christmas with a positive active attitude. Be kind to your body and most importantly enjoy yourself. Why not have a go at baking one of our favourite, healthy snacks – Chocolate Cherry Smart Cookies.
3 – Spread the Healthy Lifestyle Attitude!
Encourage the family to join you in exercising, turn it from being a chore to something fun! Even if it’s something small, a great example of this would be a Boxing Day walk with the family. Try giving gifts such as gym clothes, trainers or even buying a gym membership for friends or family – that’s if you’re feeling nice!
4 – Set Goals for the New Year
Motivation is the key to success. By setting a goal early on, you will have the drive to complete that.
